James Spittle appointed as the first independent non-executive chairman
NHS Supply Chain has announced that Supply Chain Coordination Limited (SCCL), the management function of the new NHS Supply Chain, has appointed James Spittle as its first independent non-executive chairman with effect from this week.
Known as Jim, he has enjoyed a highly-successful career as a retailer for more than 20 years working in retail operations, procurement and supply chain; the latter being his particular area of specialism.
He has worked for leading brands, spending many years with Tesco, before moving to Kingfisher, where he spent eight years as group supply chain director.
Since 2001, he has held a number of executive roles and non-executive director roles, including as chairman of GS1UK, Cranfield University Advisory Board, and at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) as past president and current vice president.
With a wealth of experience and impressive commercial supply chain pedigree, Jim said: “I am delighted to be joining the board as chairman of SCCL at a time of significant transformation and do not underestimate the forthcoming challenges and significant opportunities ahead of us in the need to drive more value throughout the supply chain. I look forward to working with our team and our many partners”.
Jin Sahota, chief executive of SCCL, added: “We are delighted to bring Jim Spittle on board. His role will be vital in ensuring robust challenge is provided; the interests of those who benefit from the operating model are represented; and providing subject matter expertise to drive the success of the new NHS Supply Chain.”
