Previously available as bespoke solutions, Armstrong now has a standard range of metal and mineral baffles to provide an even more flexible approach to noise control in public areas such as hospitals. Such building spaces are becoming busier, more open plan and more reliant on thermal mass design, but Armstrong's new baffles ranges can be quickly and easily suspended directly from the soffit via cables or grouped using standard grid systems.
Providing excellent sound absorption where the soffit needs to be exposed to optimise thermal mass, their vertical linear aesthetic delivers a directional comparison to continuous suspended ceilings and enhances contemporary design trends.
The metal baffles are precision engineered with a regular perforation pattern and a high-performance glass wool insert for optimised acoustics, providing a w between 0.45 and 0.55(H), depending on its size and the void depth. Comprised up to 30% recycled content and with 65% light reflectance, they are washable and resistant to scratches, fire (Euroclass B-s1, d0) and humidity (90%).
These levels of performance, coupled with an architectural visual available in white or a range of RAL colours, make metal baffles equally as suitable as a plenum mask where continuous services access is required, in a semi-exposed environment such as a station platform, or as an aesthetic ceiling solution for open space areas.
The mineral Optima baffles range, which comprises 80% recycled content, is available off-the-shelf in standard white (with up to 87% light reflectance) or in bespoke colours and sizes. These provide between 1.00 and 1.45 sabines of sound absorption as discrete absorbers, depending on size, spacing and void depth.
They are ready to fit and come complete with pre-screwed spiral anchors, making them not only a cost-effective option, but also one of the easiest and quickest baffle solutions around.
